About Mama Meg's Parent Support Groups

A little bit about your facilitator

My name is Meghan Elliott, but you can call me Meg. I use she/her pronouns. I have lived in Berkeley just over two years, and created this group to feel more rooted in community here.

I am a Mama of two. My background is in Psychology, Women’s Studies, Food Justice, and Education. Our first child was in the NICU after surviving a difficult birth that required complex medical intervention. My second birth was smooth and my baby is healthy, but we had many breastfeeding struggles.

My experiences made me want to support other parents who struggled on the path. I became a Parent Mentor with the organization Support for Families of Children with Disabilities, and then became a Parent Liaison at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. There, I ran a support group for parents and caregivers of hospitalized children.

I am a trained Lactation Education Counselor via UC San Diego. I have a deep passion for supporting parents throughout their parenting journeys, and particularly in the postpartum time.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting one another on the path of parenthood!
